Wings Of Eagles Gains First Stakes Success
Blue Wings (2f Wings Of Eagles - Blue Mood, by Invincible Spirit) became a first black-type winner by Wings Of Eagles when landing Monday’s Listed feature at Marseille.
The Cedric Rossi-trained bay was the sole filly to line up for the Prix Delahante over nine furlongs, with the field included Asad Zabeel to whom she had finished second in a Class 2 contest last month.
Chasing the leaders under Franck Blondel, she quickened through a gap on the rail approaching the final furlong and was driven out to win by a length, turning the tables on runner-up Asad Zabeel.
Owned and bred by Jean-Pierre Dubois, Blue Wings gained her maiden win at the track early last month. She hails from the first crop of Beeches Stud sire Wings Of Eagles, who was provided with another winner on Sunday when Aigle Vaillant (2c Wings Of Eagles - Princess Demut, by Tannenkonig) won his second start at Le Pin Au Haras.
Racing prominently throughout under Morgan Delalande, Stephane Wattel’s charge was driven out in the straight to win by three and a half lengths.
Bred by Larissa Kneip, Aigle Vaillant may be seen to best effect in the national hunt sphere, as a half-brother to multiple hurdle winner Demopplis and debut bumper winner Georgiator.
