Wings Of Eagles Mare Gains Deserved Maiden Win

Faux Fur (4f Wings Of Eagles - Fabiola, by Medicean) became the latest first crop winner by Wings Of Eagles when gaining a deserved success in the Mares Maiden Hurdle at Tramore on Thursday.

The Gordon Elliott-trained bay placed on her first three starts in bumpers and was well-supported to get off the mark on her second start over hurdles when the saddle slipped. Stepping up to two and a half miles at Tramore, she was settled in midfield by Jack Kennedy and improved to chase the leader by halfway. She led approaching the second last and kept on well to deny Rachel’s Secret (Yeats) by half a length on the line.

Faux Fur is a half-sister to stablemate Foxfire Glow (Vadamos), who recently recorded back-to-back wins at the same track. Owned by Brendan Scully and bred by , she hails from the first crop of Beeches Stud sire Wings Of Eagles. The Epsom Derby hero’s first four-year-olds also include dual Listed winner Blue Wings and Listed runner-up Lovely Diamond.
