Wings Of Eagles Mare Makes Winning Debut At Borris House
Wings And Wands (4m Wings Of Eagles – On The Prairie, by Definite Article) continued a promising start by Wings Of Eagles’ first Irish-bred four-year-olds when making a winning debut at Borris House on Sunday.
Pierce Power’s newcomer was one of 12 runners to line up for the four-year-old mares’ maiden and raced in midfield in the early stages under Shane O’Rourke. Ridden approaching the turn for home, she took third after the final fence and kept on well to lead by a neck on the line. Fellow newcomer Ziggy Wiggy (Walk In The Park) claimed runners-up honours.
Wings And Wands was bred by Miss Hannah Cashman and is a half-sister to black-type hurdler Ooh Betty (Westerner). She hails from Wings Of Eagles’ first Irish crop of four-year-olds, as does Billy Codd’s recent Ballyragget maiden winner Hay Meadow.
