Wings Of Eagles Mares Gains Maiden Hurdle Win
Leloopa (4f Wings Of Eagles – Walkthefirth, by Flemensfirth) built on some promising runs to get off the mark in the mares’ maiden hurdle at Hereford on Monday.
Placed in a bumper for James Barcoe, she debuted for Fergal O’Brien in August, when she finished fourth on her first start over hurdles, and improved to take second next time out. She was sent off favourite to go one better on Monday and made all of the running under Jonathan Burke. Shaken up after the second last, she was pushed out on the run-in to score by a length and a quarter, with another eight and a half lengths back to the third.
Owned by the Paddy Brennan Racing Syndicate, Leloopa is the first foal bred by the Beeches Stud out of Walkthefirth (Flemensfirth). She hails from the first Irish-bred crop of Wings Of Eagles, as does impressive debut winner Marlacoo, four-year-old maiden and bumper winner Hay Meadow, and smart newcomer Churchfield Sunset.
