$300,000 Colt Leads Way for Epicenter at Keeneland November

The first two books of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale saw buyers eager to get their hands on the first weanlings by Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Epicenter with nine of his 13 yearlings sold bringing $120,000 or more.

The group was led by a $300,000 colt purchased by Brady Bloodstock from Warrendale Sales.

Bred by Troy Holmes, he is a half-brother to three winners from four to race out of Majestic Jewel, with that group including stakes winner Concept. A two-time winner herself, Majestic Jewel is a half-sister to dual Grade I winner Evening Jewel and stakes winner Deep Jewelry.

Another one of her winning sisters also produced Grade I winner Denman’s Call with six stakes performers in all produced by her siblings.

Taylor Made Sales offered a $225,000 Epicenter colt bred by Brunacini Stables, who was purchased by Scoot Stables early in the first session.

The first weanling to sell at Keeneland by the stallion, he is the first foal out of Ghostzapper mare Spirit Dance. That mare is a three-quarter sister to stakes winner and Grade II-placed Dance Again and half-sister to Grade III-placed Swoop and Strike. Both mares have produced stakes performers with Swoop and Strike the dam of American Pharoah’s stakes placed Swoop to Finish.

Spirit Dance is a granddaughter of Canadian champion and U.S. Grade I winner Dancethruthedawn, who is also the granddam of Grade IU winner Moreno.

Valiant 24 Bloodstock purchased a $200,000 colt in Book 1 from Vinery Sales, who was offered on behalf of Haymarket Farm.

Like the $225,000 colt, this one is out of a Ghostzapper mare in Supernatural. Supernatural is a successful broodmare with two winners from two to race including Munnings’ Print Money. Supernatural is a half-sister to stakes winner and Grade I-placed Featherbed, Grade III placed Little Cliff, and stakes placed Dynamical among others. Featherbed has produced Uncle Mo’s Grade III winner Mo Strike and Grade III winner Dynamic Impact among others.

Both the colt’s second and third dams have produced stakes performers with those under his third dam also including champion Rushing Fall and Grade I winner Albert The Great among others.

Epicenter’s other weanlings sold for $200,000, $150,000, $140,000, $140,000, $1400,000, etc. for an average of $132,154 and median of $140,000.
