Mares In Foal to Epicenter a Hit at Keeneland January

The first mares in-foal to champion Epicenter were well received at the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages sale last week, led by the second most expensive in-foal mare of the second session.

Purchased by Parks Investment Group from Grovendale Sales, Tiz An Edventure sold for $310,000 during that session to be the sixth most expensive in-foal mare of the sale as well. The mare is carrying her first foal on a May 8 cover.

Tiz An Edventure’s 10 wins in 19 starts included a stakes victory as one of five winners out of the stakes placed Triune. Triune is also the granddam of the stakes winning Rarified Flair. The family also includes Grade I winner Corinthian and Grade II winner Desert Hero with all three dams on the page producing at least one stakes winner.

The seventh most expensive in-foal mare of the second session was the $220,000 Union Lake, also carrying her first foal by Epicenter.

Purchased by Cary Bloodstock on behalf of Coteau Grove Farms, the Mulholland Springs-offered mare won three of her seven starts in addition to finishing third in the Grade II Prioress Stakes. She’s one of three winners out of the five-time winning Tale of the Cat mare Donnatale, who is a half-sister to stakes winner and Grade III-placed Heavenly Score.

Epicenter’s first in-foal mares have done well at the sales this season, bringing $310,000, $300,000, $250,000, etc. at the November and January sales.
