$4 Million Mare Leads Tiz The Law Offerings

A mare in foal to Tiz The Law was the fourth most expensive offering of the Fasig-Tipton November Sale on Sunday when Bellafina brought $4 million.

Purchased by M.V. Magnier from Eaton Sales, Bellafina was a three-time Grade I winning mare among her seven wins with six other top three finishes. The mare is a full sister to multiple stakes winner Diamond King and out of a stakes-placed half-sister to stakes-placed Akron Moon.

Bellafina’s first foal was an Uncle Mo filly who topped the weanling portion of this sale when bringing $1.35 million from Paramount Bloodstock.

The two mares in foal to Tiz The Law were popular commodities with Magnier also purchasing Uncle Mo’s Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Donna Veloce for $1.9 million with Jamie McCalmont signing the ticket.

Bred to Tiz The Law on an April 1 cover, Donna Veloce is a half-sister to the stakes placed Orinoco River and out of a Montjeu daughter of Grade I winner Cash Run. That stakes producing mare is a daughter of Grade I winner Shared Interest, who also produced Grade I winner Forestry.

Donna Veloce's first foal was a Justify filly foaled this year who sold to K.S.I for $400,000 earlier in the day.

On the weanling side, two colts from Tiz The Law’s first crop brought six-figures, led by his racing owners Sackatoga Stable going to $215,000 for a Hunter Valley Fam offering.

The colt out of the winning Into Mischief mare Breaking Beauty is a grandson of multiple Grade II winner Que Belle, who also produced Grade III winner Osidy and stakes winner Quetsche. There are stakes winners under both the colt’s dams with foals three or older on the page.

A colt out of Promise of Spring from the Crestwood Farm consignment was purchased for $125,000 by RDO and MRJ Thoroughbreds in the middle of the weanling portion.

Promise of Spring is a multiple Grade III-placed mare, who is a half-sister to eight-time winner and Mexican champion Mi Vecino. They are out of a full sister to stakes placed Moreno’s Mine and half-sister to stakes-placed Curlish Figure.

Four-time Grade I winner Tiz The Law has even more to come during the November sales with 21 weanlings on offer at the Keeneland November Sale.
