Echo Town Filly Romps in Career Debut

Echo Town’s Island Dream Girl (3f Echo Town x Cantaloupe Island, by Ghostzapper) got off to a perfect start on Wednesday with a 7 ¾ length debut romp.

Kicking off her career over six furlongs on the dirt, Island Dream Girl was rated behind the leaders between two other runners. Moving wider in the turn, she swung into the stretch with the leader targeted and ready for battle. That battle came as they hit the furlong pole, but didn’t last long with Island Dream Girl gliding past for an uncontested lead.

She motored away to a 7 ¾ length victory with only the other two three placers within 16 lengths of her at the end.

Trained by Brittany Russell for Michael Dubb, the Elkstone Group, and Titletown Racing Stable, Island Dream Girl is out of the Ghostzapper mare Cantaloupe Island.

This is the first foal for that mare, whose granddam is stakes placed Echo Echo Echo. Echo Echo Echo is the dam of the Grade III winner Letgomyecho, who produced champion Echo Zulu and Island Dream Girl’s own sire Echo Town in addition to Grade III winner J Boys Echo and two stakes performers.

This is the third winner of the year for Echo Town, who ended last year with 13 winners led by two stakes winners and four stakes performers.
