Echo Town Foals Set For Keeneland November

Days after his champion half-sister Echo Zulu finished second in the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, Grade I winner Echo Town sees 12 of his first foals on offer at Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale just down the hill from the track.

The first to go through the ring is Hip 1061 from the Vinery Sales consignment. Offered on behalf of Milestone Farm, the colt is out of the two-time winning mare Chamade. That mare is a half-sister to Curls In Place, whose Grade III winning son Big Invasion finished third in the Grade II Franklin-Simpson Stakes recently.

Curls In Place is also the dam of two other stakes performers while their dam Pola’s Place is a stakes-placed half-sister to stakes winner and Grade II-placed Going Wild.

From the family of Grade I Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint winner Wavell Avenue is Hip 2519 from Michael C. Byrne’s consignment. The colt is a half-brother to Uncle Mo’s four-time winner Famished with the duo out of a winning half-sister to multiple stakes winner Tothemoonandback, stakes winner Ruby Park and stakes-placed Backgammon. Ruby Park is the dam of Wavell Avenue’s dam Lucas Street. Wavell Avenue herself is the dam of Grade I winner Grenadier Guards.

Vinery Sales also sends out Hip 2857 from the family of Grade I winners Union Rags and Declaration of War.

His Declaration of War dam My Tempo is inbred 3 x 4 to Tempo, who produced Union Rags and stakes placed Geefour. Also under Tempo’s name is her daughter Tempo West. That mare produced the aforementioned Declaration of War, multiple Grade III winner War Correspondent, stakes winner Vertiformer, and stakes-placed War Pack.

Echo Town’s last offering through the ring is Hip 3494, a filly consigned by Vinery Sales as agent for HREH and raised at Springhill Equine.

The January born filly is a granddaughter of La Comete, who is a half-sister to Grade I winner Icon Project. But more importantly, La Comete produced Echo Town’s studmate and fellow Speightstown son Munnings and Munnings’ stakes winning full sister Munnings Sister. Two siblings also produced stakes performers in Speight’sercomete and multiple Grade III placed Snowboarder. One of Snowboarder’s half-siblings is the dam of stakes winner and champion Pingxiang.

Echo Town is not only a Grade I winning sprinter but also comes from a stacked female family with his dam producing three graded stakes winners, two other stakes performers, and two stakes producing daughters. The Keeneland ring is also familiar to the family with Echo Town’s American Pharoah half-sister topping the first session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in 2021.
