Eleven Tiz The Law Juveniles on Offer at OBS Spring

Buyers have a chance to buy 11 Tiz The Law juveniles this week at the OBS Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale a month after one sold for $750,000 at OBS March.

The first on offer is Hip 365, a Tom McCrocklin-offered filly who tied the track record during the third session of the Under Tack Show when stopping the clock in :20.1.

The March-born filly is a half-sister to Grade III-placed Urban from one to race out of the stakes-placed Moonlight Sky. Bred by China Horse Club and sold for $170,000 as a yearling last September, the filly’s dam is a full sister to Grade III winner Sky Girl and champion Abel Tasman.

“This filly has a lot of Tiz The Law in her,” McCrocklin said. “She is a strong, stout filly. There is nothing feminine about her. She’s easily mistaken for a colt. She’s real quiet. I checked in on her first thing this morning and she’s in there sleeping like it’s just another day at the office.”

This filly has stakes winners throughout her family with each of her dams on the page producing at least one stakes performer. They come from a long line of stakes producers with each of the filly’s first seven dams producing at least one stakes performer.

Under the filly’s first three dams alone are 16 stakes performers with all but six of them winning at least one stakes.

A half-brother to Uncle Mo’s stakes placed Del Mo and Mendelssohn’s winner Soft Pants sells with Scanlon Training and Sales as Hip 420 during the second session.

Bred by The Lucky Ones, the colt is a half-brother to three to race out of No Lip Service. That mare is a half-sister to the multiple graded stakes winner Listen Here and the stakes winning Indy Bird.

Two other half siblings placed in stakes with the Grade III-placed Listen also producing Grade I winner La Coronel with a winning half-sister producing champion Ecosystem.

Bred in Kentucky by Frank Hutchinson, Hip 595 offered by Orlyana Farm is a half-brother to stakes winner and Grade I-placed Hidden Message. That runner is one of six winners from eight to race out of the stakes winning Secret Charm. Out of Grade I-placed Viz, Secret Charm is a half-sister to stakes winner Relish The Thought with that mare producing Grade II winner and Grade I-placed My Gi Gi and two other stakes performers.

Secret Charm is an eighth-generation stakes producer with her third dam also a successful producer of producers. That mare’s daughter Temperence Gift is the dam of Grade I winner Gozzip Girl and the granddam of Uncle Mo’s Grade II winner Kingsbarns.

Halcyon Hammock Farm consigns Hip 669, a filly out of the winning Dixie Union mare Southern Silence. Southern Silence’s four winners have all earned blacktype with the group led by multiple stakes winner and Grade I-placed Esplanade and multiple stakes winner Liberate.

Bred by Newstead Corp, the filly is a granddaughter of stakes winner Silence Dogood, who is one of three stakes performers out of the multiple stakes placed Crystal Vous. That mare’s stakes placed daughter Unbridled Star’s descendants include Grade II winner Highway Star and stakes winners Captain Bombastic, Surge of Pride, Friend or Foe and Star Grazing.

The filly’s fourth dam is the dual Grade I winner Taisez Vous, who sees Group I winners Snappy John and Pinball Wizard among the seven stakes performers named just off the filly’s page. In all, five of the filly’s first six dams have produced at least one stakes winner with three of them producing more than one stakes winner.

Southern Silence visited Uncle Mo last season.

Bred by W.S. Farish, Hip 819 from the Navas Equine consignment is the first foal out of the stakes winning Twirling Owen.

A five-time winner, Twirling Owen is one of two stakes winners alongside Run to Daylight for Stormy Atlantic mare Daylight’s Coming. Each of the three dams on the page with racing age foals have produced two or more stakes performers with five stakes winners under those three dams.

Fourth dam Southern Swing produced one of those with her two other stakes performers also including Grade I-placed Erinsouthernman. There are nine stakes performers on the page overall with the three dams producing a combined 18 winners.

A filly whose first dam is so prolific she fills the first page is Hoppel-consigned Hip 1081, a :20.3 breezer bred by Charles and Caroline Haynes.

That first dam is the Grade II placed City Sister, who won three races in her racing career. City Sister was even better in the breeding shed with four stakes performers and multiple daughters and granddaughters producing stakes winners. The mare’s best runners are Grade II winner Dixie City and multiple stakes winner and Grade II-placed Win The War. The mare also produced the stakes placed duo of Union City and Uncle Mo’s Mo City.

Dixie City went on to produce multiple Korean champion Blue Chipper and the dam of Grade II winner Bubble Rock. Union City is the dam of multiple graded stakes winner and Grade I-placed Unified while an unplaced Bernardini mare out of City Sister is the dam of multiple stakes winner and multiple graded stakes placed Hasafet.

Tiz the Law’s first offering comes on April 17 with multiple offerings each of the next three days as well with three juveniles selling on the final day. Sessions start 10:30am daily.
