Mo Town Filly Catches The Eye in Maiden Victory
Key of Life (2f Mo Town x Longride to Wisdom, by Harlan’s Holiday) added to Mo Town’s winner total on Saturday with a 2 ½ length Churchill Downs Maiden Special Weight victory.
The filly kept pressure on the pacesetter throughout the early stages of the six-furlong dirt race before taking over in the stretch. Once she had the lead, she easily pulled away to win by 2 ½ lengths with the rest of the field nearly seven lengths behind the winner.
This is the second start for the Brad Cox-trainee, who finished third on debut at this track in June. She was a $350,000 OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds purchase for Flurry Racing Stable, who is joined in her racing ownership by Hoffman Family Racing.
Moreau Bloodstock International bred the granddaughter of multiple stakes winner Clever Idea. The family also includes multiple graded stakes winner Kantharos with nine stakes performers under her first three dams.
Mo Town is a top 10 freshman sire by winners and earnings in 2022 with 10 other runners hitting the board.
