Mo Town Juvenile Impressive at Churchill

It was a perfect start to Dreamgirl’s (2f Mo Town x Box Office Smash, by Dixie Union) career on Friday when the juvenile won a Churchill Downs Maiden Special Weight by two lengths.

Mike Maker entered her in a five-furlong dirt race to start her career and the filly was keen to make a good impression, pressuring the leader from the start. That pair dueled around the track with neither giving in until the final furlong.

At that point, Dreamgirl started to gain an advantage and she grew it from there to win by two lengths with the third-place horse over five lengths behind the winner.

Bred by Mullholland Springs, Dreamgirl was a $65,000 2-year-old and races for Three Diamonds Farm.

The filly is out of Box Office Smash, a two-time winning half-sister to the Grade I winner Bee Jersey who has now produced three winners from three to race. Box Office Smash’s third dam is successful racemare and broodmare Lassie’s Lady, who is also the granddam of five-time Group I winner Duke of Marmalade and Group I Ruler of the World and to the dam of American Pharoah’s Grade II winner Sweet Melania.

Mo Town sits third among all North American sires this year by number of juvenile winners with three.
