Mo Town Juvenile Stays Undefeated in Indiana Futurity
Molly’s Town (2g Mo Town x Molly Slew, by Curlin) stayed undefeated in four starts on Wednesday when he won the Indiana Futurity by 7 ½ lengths.
Racing over a little farther than a mile, Molly’s Town broke a step slowly to settle a few lengths off the pacesetter around the first turn. As the field moved down the backstretch, Molly’s Town didn’t give the jockey any choice but to go to the front and had command of the race by the time they raced into the far turn.
He didn’t let up from there, steadily pulling away to win by 7 ½ lengths without ever putting in serious effort.
Trained by Genaro Garcia for Southwest Racing Stables, it’s the second straight stakes win for the Swifty Farms-bred Molly’s Town who has won over $160,000 in his four career starts.
Molly’s Town is one of two winners from two to race out of the Curlin mare Molly Slew. That mare is a daughter of the multiple Grade III-placed Maggie Slew, who also produced stakes winner Mack The Slew and stakes placed Mike The Man.
Maggie Slew is one of four stakes performers out of her own dam with that mare also producing multiple graded stakes winner Roza Robata and multiple stakes winner Burger Day. Another of her half-sisters is the dam of multiple graded stakes winner May Day Rose and the dam of Grade I winner Chi Town Lady.
Second crop sire Mo Town has sired four stakes winners in 2023 with nine stakes performers and 42 winners overall this year.
