Mo Town Set For Strong Keeneland September
Uncle Mo’s versatile Grade I winning son Mo Town sees 42 yearlings from his first crop cataloged at the Keeneland September Sale to follow up on the success that he’s had at early yearling sales.
That group starts with White Fox Farm-bred Hip 535, a Taylor Made Sales consigned half-sister to stakes winner and multiple Grade 2-placed Competitive Speed, who was third in the Azalea Stakes last month. Their dam Shopped Out is the dam of three winners from three to race with all three winning at least three starts each. Shopped Out is out of stakes winner and Grade I-placed Shop Till You Drop, one of three stakes performers for multiple stakes winner Our Shopping Spree.
Eaton Sales consigns Hip 1258, a three-quarter brother to Uncle Mo’s stakes-placed Take Ten. Take Ten is one of four winners out of Savviest, a half-sister to Grade I winner Tactical Cat and to Grade II-placed Storm Passage in addition to multiple stakes winner Susie Bee. Bred by Summer Hill Farm, the colt has already been through the ring once as a $50,000 short yearling.
Hip 1602 from the Sue Vacek consignment is a filly out of the winning Tiznow mare On Golden Pawn. Bred by John Penn in Florida, the filly is a granddaughter of Grade II winner Classic Elegance, who produced two stakes placed runners led by Uncle Mo’s Grade III-placed Divine Elegance.
A half-sister to the dam of Grade I Kentucky Oaks winner Believe You Can, Classic Elegance is also the granddam of multiple stakes winner and Grade I-placed Standard Deviation.
Hip 1905 offered by co-breeder Ledgelands earned and update when her 2-year-old half-brother Headline Report finished second to Practical Joke’s Wit in the Grade III Sanford earlier this year. That gives their Tale of the Cat dam Green Eyed Cat two stakes performers from three runners alongside stakes winner Little Kansas. Also bred by Andrew Ritter, this filly is a granddaughter of dual Grade I winner Critical Eye, who is also the granddam of multiple stakes winner Critical Value.
Breeder Penn Sales offers the first foal out of the winning mare Three Halos, a three-quarter sister to Grade III winner Cinco Charlie, as Hip 2133. Three Halos is out of the stakes-placed Ten Halos, a half-sister to Grade II winners My Pal Charlie and Bwana Charlie and Grade III winner Bwana Bull.
Ten Halos is one of three mares out of Shahalo to produce stakes performers with half-sister It’s Heidi’s Dance the dam of Grade III winner Fast and Accurate and half-sister Fashion Insider the half-sister to Australian Group I-placed Buffalo River.
Mo Town’s Hip 2242 consigned by Gainesway is out of a Bernardini half-sister to the dam of Grade II winner Stanford. A great-grandson of Myth, the Mike Pietrangelo-bred was a $75,000 Keeneland November Breeding stock sale purchase and comes from the sale family of champion Johannesburg and Coolmore America stalwart Tale of the Cat, among others.
A half-brother to four winners, Hip 2702 is out of a placed half-sister to Grade I winner Gozzip Girl and Grade III-placed Lady Tapit. Bred by consigner Brandywine Farm, the colt’s family also includes Group III winner Gallieleo’s Town and Group III winner and Group I-placed Gianella. In all, there are 19 stakes performers listed under the three dams on this colt’s page.
The sire of multiple session toppers from his first crop, Mo Town’s first yearlings have sold for up to $300,000 this year.
The 2021 Keeneland September Sale kicks off on Monday, September 13 and runs through September 24.
