Motown Missile Romps at Fair Grounds
Motown Missile (3g Mo Town x Dressed to Kill, by Formal Gold) was a runaway winner for Mo Town on Friday at Fair Grounds with a 8 ¾ romp to break his maiden.
Racing a few lengths off the leader in the one-mile dirt race, he raced four wide before moving in a path just outside the final quarter. Making a serious move around the turn, Motown Missile was in command as the field raced into the stretch. Though he showed a little greenness when feeling the whip, he continued to extend his lead so he won going away in the end.
Trained by Bret Calhoun for Mansfield Racing, Motown Missile was bred by Highlight Thoroughbreds. The gelding is a half-brother to Grade III winner Lady Ninja and out of the stakes placed Dressed to Kill.
That mare is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Skyring, Grade II winner Greenspring, and stakes winner Caballero Negro among six stakes performers out of a daughter of the Grade I-winning Top Corsage.
Mo Town is the sire of three winners in 2023 and 24 winners overall with two stakes winners and five stakes performers.
