My Girl Kew Newest Stakes Winner for Mo Town
William Butler homebred My Girl Kew (3f Mo Town x Miss Kew, by Catienus) became the eighth stakes winner for Mo Town on Saturday in the Southern Park Stakes.
The Mike Maker trainee went off as race favorite in the six-furlong dirt race and shadowed the leader early after fighting for the lead. Racing a length off that one early in the race, she closed in late but had plenty of work to do if she wanted the win.
She was willing to put in that work and had her neck in front at the line for her second career victory in four starts.
My Girl Kew is the second stakes winner for Catienus mare Miss Kew alongside the stakes winning Squid. Miss Kew has produced three winners from four to run overall. She is one of two stakes producers for Kewland, who saw another daughter produce stakes winner Trojan Tale by another Uncle Mo son.
Mo Town’s seven Northern Hemisphere stakes winners is eighth best among all third crop sires alongside studmate Mendelssohn. He is also the sire of 14 stakes performers from his first two crops.
