New York New York Starts Career On Winning Note

Echo Town’s New York New York (3g Echo Town x Porto Marmay, by Choisir) ended his debut in the winner’s circle at Gulfstream Park Wednesday to become his sire’s fourth winner of 2025.

The gelding was off to a fast start in the five-furlong synthetic race as one of the first out of the gate. His introduction to racing wasn’t a relaxing one though with another horse dueling with him from the start all the way to half-way through the stretch.

That one gave up going into the final furlong, but New York New York had to hold off the late closing favorite to keep the win. He did just that, finishing half a length the best for Grandview Equine and LNJ Foxwoods.

Trained by Brad Cox, New York New York is a half-brother to the Group II winner and multiple Group I placed Red Verdon.

They are two of six winners from seven to race out of the multiple stakes winning Porto Marmay, who is also a half-sister to the stakes placed duo of Orpsie Boy and Peak Power. The family also includes Hong Kong champion River Verdon.

Echo Town has 16 winners overall with two stakes winners and four stakes performers overall.
