Opportunities Abound For Buyers At Fasig-Tipton

The Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale taking place on Monday and Tuesday has plenty of opportunities for those looking for short yearlings by Cupid and Practical Joke.

Coming off successful weanling sales, the stallions look to be in high demand again in Lexington with value sire and Grade I winner Cupid having two well-bred yearlings.

Cupid’s first through the ring is Hip 144 from Tanglewood Farm out of the Listed winning Miss Lederhosen. A full-sister to stakes placed Breathethefire, the mare has two winners from two to race with her 4-year-old adding an update when placed earlier this year. The filly also has Grade III winner Phantom On Tour and stakes winner No White Socks on her page with her third dam White Wool Socks.

The following day, Cupid is represented by Hip 461, a filly consigned by Brookdale Sales out of a stakes placed full sister to Grade II winner Imperialism. Four of the filly’s five half-siblings out of Cherryblossommiss are winners with the mare also a half-sister to two stakes producers. This filly comes from an international family with Cherryblossommiss’s half-sister the dam of European Group II winner and Group I placed Thundering Blue.

Practical Joke has been one of the most in-demand sires at sales this season and there are three chances to buy one of his yearlings this week with two selling on Monday and one on Tuesday.

Practical Joke’s sale kicks off with Royal Bloodstock Sales’ Hip 104, a grandson of Champion Phone Chatter. A half-brother to two winners, he is out of a full sister to Grade II winner Cat Chat – the dam of Grade I winner In Lingerie. Also under the colt’s second dam is Grade I winner Dixie Chatter and Grade II winner Mongolian Falcon. The colt’s extended family is full of Grade I form with Afifa, Any Given Saturday, and New Money Honey among those further back in his female family.

One hundred hips later is Endeavour Farm’s Hip 203, a half-brother to Canadian Champion Youcan’tcatchme and stakes placed Gran Cherry and Winning Desire. Another well-bred colt from the first crop of Practical Joke, his dam is a half-sister to Storm Dixie, the dam of four-time Grade I winner Princess Of Sylmar and stakes placed Biblical.

Tuesday sees one colt by the two-time Grade I winner go through the ring with Hip 608 from Gainesway the second foal out of a half-sister to Grade I winner Sean Avery and the dam of Grade II winner Pretty N Cool. The filly is bred similarly to the Into Mischief x Maria’s Mon cross that produced Listed winner Holiday Mischief among four winners from six runners. In all, there are 10 stakes horses on the filly’s page with her granddam the dam or granddam of five of them.

Representing Coolmore America’s first crop sires is Mo Town, who has one mare in-foal going through the ring at Hip 269. Offered by Taylor Made, the 6-year-old Irish-bred Snirvana is a granddaughter of Hill Of Snow. Hill Of Snow is the dam of Grade I winner Preseli, Grade III winner Kong, and Listed winner Mount Kilimanjaro in addition to the granddam of stakes winner and Grade I placed Model.

A winning Elusive Quality mare, Snirvana was last covered on April 4, 2019 the foal she is carrying is bred on the same Uncle Mo x Elusive Quality cross that produced Grade I winner Gomo and Grade III winner Lost Raven.
