Practical Joke Again In Demand in Keeneland Book 3
Pin Oak Stud added a Practical Joke yearling to their stable during Book 3 when going to $575,000 to purchase a colt out of String Section.
The Scott Mallory consigned colt is the third foal out of his Candy Ride dam, a daughter of the multiple stakes winning Lemonette. A Kentucky-bred from the Highlight Thoroughbreds breeding program, the colt’s granddam is also the dam of Uncle Mo’s stakes-placed Basha. In all, there are 26 stakes performers listed on the page with the 15 stakes winners led by Grade I winner Behrens and Commentator.
Donato Lanni signed the ticket on a $435,000 Practical Joke colt for SF Bloodstock, Starlight, and Madaket during the first session of the book.
Another offered by Scott Mallory, this one on behalf of Buena Madera, the colt is a half-brother to three-time winner Turns out of the three-time winning Mony’slittlegracie.
That mare is a full sister to stakes winner Hot Talent and a half-sister to the dam of Grade III winner Regalo Mia. Hot Talent also produced two stakes winners among her own eight winners from 10 to race.
There are three more stakes performers under the colt’s third dam, led by the multiple stakes winning Uncle Cam.
Bred by Elizabeth Barr in Pennsylvania, this was the second time the colt went through the ring after selling to Buena Madera at Keeneland November.
Practical Joke also saw his yearlings sell for $400,0000, $260,000, $240,000, etc. during the book with a $214,333 average for 15 sold. In all, he’s had 28 sold for an average of $194,286 during this year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale with a pair of $575,000 yearlings leading the charge.
