Ruxton Rocks Another Winner For Mo Town
It was another December winner for Mo Town on Sunday when Ruxton Rocks (2f Mo Town x Stormin Wendy, by Ecclesiastic) broke her maiden at Laurel Park.
Stretching out to 1 1/16 miles after going a mile in her debut, Ruxton Rocks broke a little slowly and was rated down the backstretch just over four lengths off the leader. Let out a notch once comfortable, Ruxton Rocks started picking off horses to be just behind the leader entering the final part of the backstretch as she waited to make a serious move.
That didn’t take long with Ruxton Rocks having the lead before they were even fully in the turn and building a comfortable lead. Another juvenile was able to eat that lead down to a length at the line but everyone else was at least five lengths adrift of the winner in the end.
Trained by Brittany Russell for TLC Thoroughbreds, Ruxton Rocks was bred by Thomas Teal out of four-time winner and multiple stakes placed Stormin Wendy from the family of Grade I winner Roadster.
Mo Town now has 21 winners, tying him for sixth among all freshmen with Good Magic. His first crop of runners includes five stakes performers and two stakes winners.
