Seven Juveniles For Echo Town at OBS April
Coming off a successful OBS March 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale, Echo Town has another seven juveniles on offer in the OBS Spring 2-Year-Old In Training Sale on April 16 – 19.
The first of the sale for the stallion is Hip 25, a filly consigned by Grassroots Training and Sales. Bred by Forty Oaks, the filly is a half-sister to a winner from two to race out of the Eskendereya mare Flotus with the mare’s other foal a multiple placed runner.
Flotus is out of the multiple stakes winning Miz United States, who produced the multiple stakes winning Exaggerated and the Grade III-placed duo of Ameribelle and Scampering. Miz United States is the dam of four stakes producers with the five runners including stakes winner and multiple Grade III-placed In A Hurry.
Miz United States saw another update added under her name in early April when grandson Kupuna romped by 5 ½ lengths in the Evangeline Mile.
A three-quarter brother to multiple Grade III-placed Undervalued Asset bred by Cloyce C. Clark Jr. sells with Fly By as Hip 89.
They are out of the Hard Spun mare Hard Headed Temper, who has produced two winners from two to race. The mare is a seventh-generation stakes producer with her own stakes placed dam producing Grade I-placed Heart of Destiny and multiple graded stakes placed Brother Bobby. The page also includes Grade I winner Rosalind among the nine stakes performers on the page and eight other Grade I winners under the colt’s fourth dam.
Hard Headed Temper was bred to Champion 2-Year-Old Colt Corniche last year.
Envision Equine is the consignor of Hip 398, the Crown Chase Farm and Chesapeake Farm-bred son of My Tempo.
This is the second foal out of that Declaration of War granddaughter of Tempo. Tempo is the dam of dual Grade I winner Union Rags and stakes placed Geefour. Her seven winners overall include the colt’s own six-time winning granddam Miss Pauline and three-time winner Tempo West.
Tempo West produced multiple Grade I winner Declaration of War and Grade III winner and Grade II-placed War Correspondent among her four stakes performers.
Hip 409 from Grassroots Training and Sales’ consignment comes into the sale with stakes updates when her dam’s half-sister won the Wishing Well Stakes at Santa Anita on February 26 before winning the Grade III Monrovia on April 6.
This Indiana-bred filly from the St. Simon Place breeding program is the second foal out of the winning Mineshaft daughter Neom. That mare’s first foal broke his maiden on January 28 and registered a second-place finish in his next start on March 15.
The aforementioned half-sister to Neom had already had another stakes win after a victory in last year’s Listed Lady of Shamrock Stakes with another half-sibling the stakes-placed Give Em Heck Beck.

The four mares on her page have produced 16 winners from 17 runners with the group led by three stakes winners.
The final Echo Town on offer at the sale is Hip 1106, a Paul Sharp consignee who was purchased for $150,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale.
Bred by Mike Rutherford, the filly is a half-sister to the Grade III-placed Glacial and to the dam of Mendelssohn’s multiple stakes winner and Grade III-placed Opus Forty Two.
They are out of Country Cafe, a full sister to Grade III winner Heart Ashley and half-sister to Grade I winner Cupid and Grade III winner Ashley’s Kitty. Heart Ashley produced multiple graded stakes winner Fiano Romano and the Group III-placed dam of Grade II winner Ain’t Easy. Another one of Country Cafe’s half-sisters produced the stakes-placed dam of Grade II winner Kathleen O and granddam of Grade III winner V V’s Dream.
The OBS Spring 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale kicks off at 10:30am on April 16 and runs through April 19.
