Thirteen On Offer For Echo Town at Keeneland September
Grade I winner Echo Town has 13 yearlings from his first crop set to go through the ring at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in coming weeks.
Offered by breeder Machmer Hall and Carrie and Craig Brogden, Hip 2223 is the first through the ring by the stallion. Out of four-time winning Unbridled’s Song mare Mystic Miracle, the filly is a half-sister to multiple stakes placed Wegetsdamunnys. The mare’s juvenile Flattery sold for $180,000 at this sale last year before winning a Del Mar Maiden Special Weight. That filly is entered in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes the Saturday before the sale starts.
Mystic Miracle’s dam is the multiple graded stakes winning Mystic Lady, who is also the granddam of stakes placed Fleming and the great-granddam of stakes winner Lionistic. The extended family behind this filly includes Grade I winner Fourstars Allstar and Grade II winner Fourstardave – both full siblings to her third dam Diane Suzanne.
A colt by Echo Town out of Hard Headed Temper sells as Hip 2543 from Straight Line Equine Sales. The colt’s dam has produced two winners from two to race, including this colt’s Grade III-placed three-quarter sister Undervalued.
Bred by Cloyce C. Clark Jr., each of the colt’s first seven dams have produced stakes performers with his fourth dam seeing son Life’s Hope winning a Grade I. There are three Grade I winners named on the page with her third dam producing the dam of Grade I winner Rosalind and Group I winner A Little Kiss also listed as stakes winners under the fourth dam.
Hard Headed Temper visited another Coolmore America stallion this year as one of the mares included in the first book of Champion 2-Year-Old Male Corniche.
Out of a half-sister to Echo Town’s Grade I-winning stablemate Cupid is the Eaton Sales consigned Hip 2879.
Bred by Mike Rutherford, the filly is a half-sister to Grade III-placed Glacial and to the dam of Mendelssohn’s stakes winner and Grade III-placed Opus Forty Two and Munnings’ juvenile Maiden Special Weight winner Balta. This filly’s dam Country Café is a full sister to multiple Grade III winner Heart Ashley, who produced Fastnet Rock’s Group III winner Fiano Romano and Group III-placed Ameristralia – who is the dam of Grade II winner Ain’t Easy.
Others out of Country Cafe’s Grade II-placed dam include the Grade III winner Ashley’s Kitty and stakes winner Indianapolis in addition to Cupid. A three-time winning Pretty ‘n Smart daughter is the dam of stakes-placed Quaver, who produced multiple Grade II winner Kathleen O.

Penn Sales-bred and -offered Hip 3061 is the half-sister to eight winners from nine to race, led by six-time winner Sara’s Angel. Their dam Overboard is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Sovereign Kitty, who also produced a stakes performer and the dam of another stakes winner.

The Keeneland September Yearling Sale runs from September 11 to 23 with the first two sessions starting at 1:00p.m., Book 2 starting at 11:00a.m., and the rest of the books starting at 10:00a.m. daily.
