Tiz The Law Colt Wins Ellis Park MSW
Switching to the turf for the first time, Tiz The Law’s son Sing Sing (2c Tiz The Law x Galileo’s Melody, by Galileo) became another winner for his sire on Sunday in an Ellis Park Maiden Special Weight.
Breaking from the inside gate in the one-mile turf race, Sing Sing was first out of the gate and quickly settled in a prominent spot fighting for the lead. Pressured throughout the backstretch run, he never bowed to it and started to extend his advantage around the turn.
Multiple runners tried to run him down in the stretch, but he wasn’t for catching despite being hand ridden near the line. A late closer finished half a length behind the winner as he eased at the wire, but it was obvious Sing Sing still had plenty left to hold any real challenges off.
Trained by Mark Casse for Hunsicker Equine Associates, Rocky Top Stable, James Venture, LEMB Stable, and Quintessential Racing Florida. The colt is now placed on two surfaces, finishing third on the dirt in his debut.
Bred by Champion Equine, Sing Sing is out of the winning Galileo mare Galileo’s Melody. A daughter of the Grade II winner Grande Melody, Galileo’s Melody is also a half-sister to the multiple stakes placed Broadway Boogie and to the dam of Grade I winner Tuz. The family also includes Grade I winners Crystal Music and Zelzal.
This is the third winner for Tiz The Law, tying him for fifth among all North American freshmen this year.
