Non Compliant Tiz The Law Wins Gr 2 Oak Leaf

Tiz The Law Filly Punches Breeders’ Cup Ticket in Oak Leaf

Non Complaint (2f Tiz The Law x Sensitively, by Street Sense) earned a ticket to the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies on Saturday with a win in the Grade II Oak Leaf S. to become her sire’s third stakes winner.

Non Compliant broke from the widest gate in the 1 1/16 mile stakes race and was quick to pour the pressure on the leader out of the gate before dropping back. Racing wide in third, Non Compliant soon relaxed under Juan Hernandez as stablemate Nooni set the pace. As they hit the turn, Hernandez sent his mount to battle Nooni.

That duel lasted until the final sixteenth when Non Compliant pulled away for a 2 ¼ length win with the rest of the field over 10 lengths adrift.

"She was really happy and a little aggressive, but this was her first time going the mile,” said her jockey. “So, of course, she's going to break a little sharp, but I like that. She relaxed around the turn. I was always really comfortable. Around the (second) turn, I was trying to pick it up, and she did that very well. She didn't want to stop."

Trained by Bob Baffert to her two wins in two starts, Non Compliant races for George Antley Hunt, Jeff Giglio, and John Rogitz.

“My dad used to bring me to Santa Anita when I was a kid and I grew up in Temple City<” said Rogitz. “Bob and his team, they have an amazing eye for horses. You never know until they try two turns if they are going to handle it, but I think we felt like she could.”

The Ashview Farm and Old Oak Farm-bred filly is one of two winners out of the Grade III-placed Sensitively. Non Compliant’s third dam is also the Group III placed Scarlet Velvet with stakes form found under each of her first six dams.

Leading all freshman sires by earnings, Tiz The Law is the sire of stakes winners on both dirt and turf this season.
