Tiz The Law In Demand at Keeneland January
Classic winner Tiz The Law saw all three of his Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale in-foal mares bring six figures this week to have the third highest average of any freshman sire.
His most expensive was the $150,000 Giant’s Causeway mare Youvegottopaytopla. Purchased by Black Ridge Stable from Blandford Stud, the winning 7-year-old is carrying on a March 6 cover after producing an Uncle Mo colt last year.
The mare is out of a stakes-placed half-sister to Group I winners Taipan, Ali-Royal, and Sleepytime and to multiple Grade II winner Onnagh Maccool.
Giant’s Causeway mare Gaelic Tales was snapped up by BBA Ireland for $120,000 carrying her first foal on a March 18 cover. Consigned by Indian Creek, she not only is a half-sister to three stakes performers but is out of a half-sister to the multiple Grade I winner African Story and Group II-placed African Gold.
Tiz The Law’s three mares averaged $125,000 to give him the fourth highest average overall among stallions with three or more sold. The four time Grade I winner stands for $35,000 in his second season at stud.
