Tiz The Law Yearlings Star at Fasig-Tipton October

Four-time Grade I winner Tiz The Law is the sire of 11 first-crop yearlings at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale to close out this year’s yearling sales.

A half-brother to Mendelssohn’s stakes winning Classical Cat is his second through the ring when selling as Hip 285 through Bill Murphy’s consignment.

Bred by Pippa’s Hurricane, the colt also saw Classical Cat finish second in the Oceanside Stakes after the catalog was released to add extra blacktype to the page. They are out of the stakes winning Conquest Strate Up, who is one of two stakes performers out of Deputy with half-sister Jailhouse Coffee producing multiple stakes winner Cactus Joe.

The page gets even better from there with two-time Horse of the Year and top sire Curlin under the colt’s third dam and multiple stakes performers under his fourth dam as well.

Taylor Made Sales is the consignor of Hip 301, a half-brother to Munnings’ Grade I winner Kimari.

That mare is one of two winners out of Grade III winner and Grade II-placed Cozze Up Lady, whose three-quarter brother to this colt sold for $1.3 million last year.

Bred by China Horse Club, Grade I winner Giant Killing and Grade II winner Hualcara are also on the page. Three of the dams on this page are either stakes producers or the dams of stakes producers with the fourth dam a multiple graded stakes winner.

Hip 510 from the Warrendale Sales consignment is a half-sister to the multiple Grade II-placed This Tea. That runner is one of five winners out of the Grade I winning Funny Moon, who is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Throng and stakes-placed Home Crowd among others.

The filly bred by Gulf Haven Farms also comes from the family of champion Vanlandingham and Grade I winners African Rose, Distant Music, and Termagant with 18 stakes winners overall named under her first three dams.

Warrendale Sales is also the consignor for Hip 962, a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Wyatt’s Town and stakes placed Triple Espresso. They are two of the five runners out of the winning Indian Charlie mare Natural Rush, a half-sister to multiple stakes winning Ravi’s Song.

The Ashview Farm and Colts Neck Stables-bred colt is a grandson of multiple graded stakes winner and Grade I-placed Lu Ravi, a half-sister to the dam of champion Halfbridled. Another one of her half-sisters is also the granddam of Grade I winner Mshawish. Those are just two of the nine stakes winners and six stakes performers named under the colt’s Grade III winner At The Half’s name.

Taylor Made’s Hip 1246 is the final Tiz The Law offering at the sale and was bred by Tiz The Law’s breeder Twin Creeks Farm.

The colt is a half-brother to Grade III winner Send it In and the stakes placed duo of Power River and Canny. Their dam Sharp Instinct saw her total number of runners go up to 10 to race after the catalog was released when her juvenile by Tiz The Law’s sire Constitution was placed in his debut.

Sharp Instinct won three times herself as a daughter of Grade I winner Forty Paulina. Forty Paulina also produced multiple graded stakes winner La Javiera and Grade II-placed La Resistance. One of multiple successes for her own dam, she is a half-sister to multiple Grade I winner Fanatic Boy and to the dam of Grade I winner Fletcher.

Starting at 10am daily from October 23 to 26 at Fasig-Tipton’s Lexington location, you can see the pages for all Tiz The Law’s yearlings here.
