Town of Guaynabo Another Mo Town Winner
Mo Town’s Town of Guaynabo (3c Mo Town x Lesson Plan, by Forestry) became a winner in his second start on Saturday with a 2 1/4 length victory at Hipodromo Camarero.
Racing over 5 ½ furlongs on the dirt, the Mo Town son went off as a heavy favorite and showed why immediately when he joined another horse on the lead far in front of the rest of the field. That pair dueled throughout the backstretch run before the winner took a clear lead in the turn.
He was never asked for his best as he made easy work of the race in a gallop to win by the deceivingly small 2 1/4 lengths.
Trained by Ramon Morales, Town of Guaynabo races for Aquino Stable and was bred by Champion Equine.
He is one of five winners from seven to race with his half-siblings including six-time winner Joy Drive. Their dam Lesson Plan is a half-sister to Grade III winner Dixie Band and the dams of two other stakes performers.
A great-grandson of stakes winner Fulbright Scholar, the colt’s page also includes Uncle Mo’s champion Nyquist, Grade I winner Sahara Sky, Justify’s Grade III winner Just Cindy, and Munnings’ stakes winner Miss Alacrity.
Mo Town is the sire of 22 winners with that group including two stakes winners and five stakes performers with all three numbers putting him among the top 10 sires of his generation.
