Trust Our Journey Leads Home Coolmore-Sired Exacta In Rosie’s Stakes
It was a Coolmore-sired race to the finish in the Rosie’s Stakes at Colonial Downs on Tuesday and in the end, American Pharoah took home bragging rights when Trust Our Journey (2c American Pharoah x Tribal Music, by A.P. Warrior) edged out Practical Joke’s Tejano Twist.
The pair deployed opposite strategies in the 5 ½ furlong turf race with Trust Our Journey taking the immediate lead and Tejano Twist last early on.
Trust Our Journey kept at least a length on the rest of the field throughout the running and looked like he was going to run away with the race as they raced into the turn. Tejano Twist wasn’t going to let him have it that easily and changed everything when he came charging in the stretch.
Trust Our Journey had created enough of a lead that he was safe in the end with Tejano Twist a neck behind and the rest of the field over three lengths behind the pair.
It was the second win in five starts for the Palm Beach Racing-owned Trust Our Journey, who also has stakes placings in the Tyro Stakes and Tremont Stakes for trainer Carlos David.
The colt was bred by Hallmarc Stallions and R Star Stallions out of the winning A.P. Warrior mare Tribal Music. That mare is also the dam of stakes winner Tribal Drama with three winners from four to race overall. Tribal Music is out of the stakes-placed Dance Tune, who is also the dam of multiple stakes placed Ravelo’s Boy.
This is also the family of Australian Group II winner Hey Pronto and Australian stakes winner Classy Chloe.
American Pharoah’s 11 stakes winners in 2021 is the best of any third crop sire in North American or Europe with the Triple Crown winner’s four Grade I-placed runners two better than anyone else in his crop. Overall, American Pharoah has sired 19 stakes performers this year.
