Camelot Blueblood Works Her Magic On Debut
The beautifully-bred Merlin’s Lady (2f Camelot - Mora Bai, by Indian Ridge) lived up to expectations on debut by justifying favouritism in the Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Ayr on Monday.
All eyes were on the 320,000gns yearling purchase as she lined up for the seven furlong contest and was held up behind the leaders by Kevin Stott. Shaken up approaching the two furlong marker, Kevin Ryan’s representative was ridden a furlong later and ran on well to lead from 110 yards out. She scored by three parts of a length, going away.
The Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum-owned bay is bred to appreciate a step up in trip, as a full-sister to Hunting Horn (Camelot), a dual Group winner from ten to twelve furlongs. The pair were bred by Lynch-Bages and Rhinestone Bloodstock out of a half-sister to the top-class High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells) and Dante Stakes victor Black Bear Island (Sadler’s Wells).
