Camelot Colt Digs Deep For Debut Success
Skyward (3c Camelot - Shakeyourbody, by Giant’s Causeway) made a perfect start to his racing career when taking the Prix du Cochet at Deauville on Wednesday.
Racing over nine and a half furlongs, the bay colt broke well under Stephane Pasquier, who rode the Fabrice Chappet-trained colt to lead and quickened from the three furlong pole. Driven out in the straight, he was briefly headed but dug deep to regain the advantage inside the final furlong and ran on to win by a length and a half.
The Arno Curty-owned colt had clearly impressed at home, earning him high-profile entries, including in the Grand Prix de Paris. Bred by Aleyrion Bloodstock, he is a half-brother to multiple Stakes winner and Group 1 second Siyoushake, while his dam is a full-sister to Grade 1 victor Frost Giant (Giant’s Causeway).
