Luxembourg (Camelot) Impresses In The Group 2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh

Camelot Colt Quickens Clear To Win Beresford Stakes

Luxembourg (2c Camelot - Attire, by Danehill Dancer) now heads the betting for the 2022 Epsom Derby after running out an impressive winner of the Group 2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh.

Successful on debut in July, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was given a patient ride by Seamie Heffernan and was full of running as they passed the two furlong marker. Nudged along approaching the final furlong, Luxembourg quickened clear to score by four and three quarter lengths.

“He's very talented and I was very impressed,” Heffernan later commented. “His dad was a good staying horse and he had the pace and class to win a Guineas. The turn of foot he showed me today was exciting, so I don't know where he'll be targeted.”

Luxembourg is owned by Westerberg, Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith, who enjoyed Group 1 success earlier that day courtesy of Tenebrism’s (Caravaggio) impressive Cheveley Park Stakes win.

A 150,000gns yearling purchase by MV Magnier, the son of Camelot was bred by Ben Sangster and is closely related to Group 2 scorer Leo De Fury (Australia). A full-brother to Luxembourg is catalogued as Lot 366 in next week’s Goffs Orby Sale.
