Camelot Filly Comes From Last To First At Compiegne
A step up in trip saw the consistent Phaidra (3f Camelot - Piacere, by New Approach) gain a deserved maiden victory at Compiegne on Saturday.
Trained by Markus Munch for Erich Schwaiger, the bay had claimed runners-up honours on her last two starts and stepped up to nine furlongs in the three-year-old fillies maiden. Last turning for home, she showed an impressive turn of foot to lead from a furlong and a half out and dug deep to deny Sunny Morning by three parts of a length. The front pair drew three and a half lengths clear of the field.
Bred by Karis Bloodstock and Rathbarry Stud, Phaidra is the first foal out of Piacere, herself a daughter of Stakes performer Aneedah.
