Camelot Filly Lights Up Tattersalls At 2,900,000gns

A filly by sire-of-the-moment Camelot lit up the Tattersalls sales ring when knocked down to big-spending operation Amo Racing for 2,900,000gns.

As well as sharing her sire with Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe heroine Bluestocking (Camelot), the Camas Park Stud-consigned bay is out of a black-type half-sister to Arc third and multiple Group 1 winner Luxembourg (Camelot). The first foal out of the mare Sense Of Style (Zoffany) marked a tremendous result for breeder Ben Sangster, who said, “It’s a strong market, she’s a beautiful filly and when you get two to tango you can get two to tango.

“The family has been really good to me. I hope she goes to a nice home and lives up to their expectations. I’m a bit gobsmacked. This is rather amazing. I think everything that’s gone on this week has exceeded expectations. I didn’t really have a figure in my mind, but it certainly wasn’t that, put it that way!”

Camas Park Stud also sold Camelot’s highest-priced colt of the sale, which was bought by MV Magnier and White Birch Farm for 600,000gns. The elegant colt is an own-brother to Russian Camelot, a dual Group 1 winner in Australia.

Blandford Bloodstock came close to matching that price when giving 575,000gns for Glenvale Stud’s Camelot half-sister to dual Group 3 winner Shamida (Australia).

Camelot ended Book 1 with an impressive average price of 555,000gns.
