Camelot passed his final test of 2020 with flying colours, as he sired a quartet of six-figure foals at the final session of the Goffs Foal Sale.
The Coolmore Stud sire has enjoyed a terrific year on the track, led by history-maker Russian Camelot, Cox Plate victor Sir Dragonet and Irish Oaks heroine Even So, which has been reflected by strong demand in the sales ring.
The progressive Current Option (Camelot) gained his first Stakes success this season, providing an important update for his full-brother offered by Oghill House Stud on Sunday. Michael Fitzpatrick and Barry Mahon went to €225,000 to secure the bay colt under their JC Bloodstock banner.
Kilcarn Stud were early supporters of Camelot and bred his first Group winner Fighting Irish. The Group 2 winner’s full-sister was offered through the Castlebridge Consignment as Lot 708 and was knocked down to Peter and Ross Doyle for €185,000.
Later that evening, Oaklawn Stud offered a filly bred on a similar cross to Grade 1 Belmont Oaks heroine Athena (Camelot) as Lot 735, which fetched a final sum of €190,000 from Highbank Stud.
Early in the session, Yeomanstown Stud stretched to €170,000 for a Camelot colt from a fine Aga Khan family offered by Tinnakill House as Lot 582.
