Camelot’s International Appeal Boosts Prices At Tattersalls

The progeny of Camelot were expected to prove popular at this week’s Tattersalls December Foal Sale, given that the top-class son of Montjeu was responsible for four Group 1 winners in Ireland, France and Australia in 2020.

Cox Plate victor Sir Dragonet (Camelot) was of particular interest to Ger Lowry of Oneliner Stables, who stretched to 140,000gns for a Camelot colt offered by Belmont Stud as Lot 751. The February born bay is the second foal out of Delta Dreamer, herself a full-sister to Group performer Alpha Bravo and a half-sister to dual Graded winner Juliet Foxtrot.

After signing the docket, Lowry explained the bay’s appeal, “The cross works - Sir Dragonet won the Cox Plate and he’s out of a mare by Oasis Dream, who’s a champion broodmare sire. This foal is a good individual from an outstanding Juddmonte family, that of Dancing Brave: he ticked a lot of boxes and was pretty obvious, really. Also there’s the Australian factor coming into Book 1 now: Camelot is now a worldwide stallion.”
