Classy Camelot Colt Delivers On Debut

The well-related Castle Cove (3c Camelot – Lavender Lane, by Shamardal) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut at Leicester on Monday afternoon.

Trained by William Haggas for owner/breeders Jon and Julia Aisbitt, the son of Camelot was partnered by Tom Marquand in the ten furlong novice stakes. Settled towards the back of the field, he was switched left to challenge three furlongs from home and improved into second a furlong later. Ridden approaching the final furlong, he led close home to win by a neck, with the front pair finishing 11 lengths clear of the remainder.

Castle Cove is a half-brother to connections’ Group 2 heroine Lilac Road (Mastercraftsman).
