Classy Son Of Camelot Draws Clear To Maiden Victory
The highly-rated Point Gellibrand (3g Camelot - Fast And Pretty, by Zamindar) ran out a stylish winner of Thursday’s ten furlong maiden at Leopardstown.
Joseph O’Brien’s charge was sent off favourite, having been placed on three of his four previous starts, including when narrowly denied by subsequent Group 2 winner Atomic Jones (Wootton Bassett). Regular rider Shane Crosse rode the bay to make all and extended his advantage from two furlongs out. Keeping on strongly, the son of Camelot won by three lengths from Oh So Lovely (Galileo), who finished over four lengths clear of the third.
“Point Gellibrand was entitled to win on his form,” O’Brien later commented. “He will step back into a nice race next time.”
Owned by the Lloyd Williams Syndicate, Point Gellibrand was bred by Haras De Chevotel.
