Consistent Son Of Camelot Lands Valuable Prize
The ultra-consistent Caradoc (4g Camelot - Applause, by Danehill Dancer) gained his third success of the season when taking Saturday’s valuable Dubai Duty Free Handicap at Newbury.
The Ed Walker-trained bay was dropping back in trip to ten furlongs following his close third in the similarly valuable Sky Bet Handicap at York over a mile and a half. Ryan Moore donned the silks of owner PK Siu and rode his mount in mid-division, making headway as they approached the two furlong pole. Ridden over a furlong out, he ran on strongly to lead close home and score by half a length.
The winning trainer commented after the race, “It's nice to get redemption from York, where I think Caradoc was a bit unlucky. He's a top-of-the-ground horse and I think he could be better next year, so maybe we’ll aim him at a Wolferton.”
Bred by P&B Bloodstock, Caradoc was sold by Croom House Stud as a yearling for 270,000gns to Sackville Donald. He is a half-brother to Group 2 performer Arcada and provides a smart update for his full-sister selling at Tattersalls next month.
