Coolmore Sires Dominate Hurry Harriet Stakes

Coolmore stallions dominated the finish of Wednesday’s Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran Park, where the Aidan O’Brien-trained Goddess (3f Camelot - Cherry Hinton, by Green Desert) gained a well-deserved maiden Stakes success.

An impressive 10-length winner of a Leopardstown maiden last season, the bay was last seen finishing second in the Group 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes over nine furlongs. Racing over half a furlong farther on Wednesday, Goddess chased the leaders under Donnacha O’Brien and was travelling well in the straight where she was pushed to lead from two out. Running on well inside the final furlong, she won by a length and a quarter as Tipitena (Camelot) ran on to take second from the favourite Who’s Steph (Zoffany).

Aidan O’Brien, who trains the winner for Mrs John Magnier and John Sikura, commented after the race, “I'm delighted with her. She's been progressing lovely, with every run she's slowly been coming. Donnacha said she's going to progress now. She's not short of speed and would have no problem going back to a mile.”

Bred by Orpendal and Chelston, Goddess is a full-sister to Grade 1 Belmont Oaks heroine Athena (Camelot) and is closely related to Irish Oaks winner Bracelet (Montjeu) and Group 2 scorer Wading (Montjeu), herself the dam of talented filly Just Wonderful. Their black-type dam, Cherry Hinton, is a half-sister to the top-class Galileo and Sea The Stars, out of legendary mare Urban Sea.
