Camelot newcomer wins easily on debut

Camelot’s purple patch shows no sign of relenting and it was the turn of €200,000 yearling purchase King Of Leogrance (2c Camelot-Amourette, by Halling) to shine in France on Tuesday. Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, the colt won a mile newcomers’ event by two and a half lengths in fantastic style. He was given JDG Rising Star Status by Jour de Galop. The winner, who sold at last year’s Arqana August Sale, was bred in France by Michel Henochsberg amd Mme P Ades-Hazan. Meanwhile, Camelot’s second-crop yearlings continue to prove hot properties at the sales including a youngster who realised €380,000 at the opening session of the Goffs Orby Sale on Tuesday (pictured). The filly, out of Questions Times, was bought by Peter Doyle to race for the Mayfair Speculators/Coolmore partnership. “She’s a superb walker and, from the moment we first saw her at the weekend, we were very keen on her. She’s got quality and she’s from a lovely, happening family and we’re pleased to have gotten her,” Doyle told EBN.
