Exciting Prospect Emerges For Camelot
Los Angeles (2c Camelot - Frequential, by Dansili) earned quotes for the 2024 Epsom Derby after making an impressive debut at Tipperary on Sunday.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was one of eight to line up for the nine furlong maiden, in which Seamie Heffernan rode him prominently throughout. Pushed along after the two furlong marker, he was ridden to lead inside the final furlong and kept on well to win by two and a quarter lengths going away. Surfers Paradise (Ten Sovereigns) and Marty The Party (Starspangledbanner) completed a 1-2- for Coolmore sires.
“He is a lovely horse and will come on an awful lot,” Ballydoyle’s representative Chris Armstrong said after the race. “It was a lovely introduction and he will be a lovely middle-distance horse for next year. Something like the Beresford or the Criterium de Saint-Cloud could be next, but he is a horse to look forward to next year.”
Owned by Coolmore partners with Westerberg, the exciting son of Camelot is a full-brother to two Group performers. The trio were bred by Lynch Bages Ltd and Longfield Stud out of Frequential, who has a No Nay Never colt in next month’s Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale.
