First foals are all class for Camelot
Two excellent foals by European champion 2YO and 3YO Camelot were born at Coolmore in the last few days.
Mora Bai produced a colt at Coolmore on Monday night. She is already the dam of Beresford Stakes-Gr.2 winner David Livingston and is a half-sister to 6-time Gr.1 winner High Chaparral.
Apparel foaled a filly on Sunday night. A daughter of Gr.2 Sun Chariot Stakes winner Independence, Apparel is a half-sister to Gr.1 Eclipse Stakes winner Mount Nelson and Gr.2 Great Voltigeur Stakes winner Monitor Closely.
Coolmore manager Christy Grassick enthused “Both are smashing bay foals, correct and full of quality. It’s very exciting to see a young sire getting such good foals.”
Camelot, who stands at Coolmore Stud for a fee of €25,000, proved himself to be Montjeu’s fastest son when winning the Gr.1 2,000 Guineas before landing the Gr.1 Epsom Derby by 5 lengths from Main Sequence who on Saturday was crowned champion older male and champion male turf horse at the Eclipse Awards.
