Progeny Of Camelot Remain Popular With Australian Buyers At Tattersalls
Ruling (4g Camelot - Rosenreihe, by Catcher In The Rye) becomes the latest talented stayer by Camelot to head Down Under, having selling for 300,000gns at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale.
An impressive winner of a Curragh maiden and Stakes-placed as a two-year-old, the Joseph O’Brien-trained bay was last seen finishing a fine fourth in the Irish Cesarewitch won by Waterville (Camelot), who topped the sale’s opening session at 410,000gns. Guy Mulcaster and Chris Waller secured Waterville, but Ruling will head to the stable of Ciaran Maher and David Eustace, after he was knocked down to the team’s bloodstock manager Will Bourne.
After signing the docket, Bourne said, “His profile fits perfectly for Ciaron’s Sydney stable and for the autumn carnival. There’s some nice staying races for him over there with some great prize-money. He’s a genuine stayer so he might get found out a little bit over the short courses in Australia, but he looks perfect for those 2,800 metre races and I also had the Sydney Cup in the back of my mind as well.”
