Progressive Camelot Colt Captures Listed Prize
Sevenna’s Knight (3c Camelot - Sevenna, by Galileo) quickly repaid the faith of new owner OTI Racing by winning Saturday’s Listed Prix Michel Houyvet at Deauville.
The Andre Fabre-trained colt was purchased privately by the Australian syndicate after running out an impressive six and a half length winner of a conditions race last time out. Remaining over a mile and six furlongs on his first start at Stakes level, he raced towards the back of the field under Bauyrzhan Murzabayev and was last to challenge. Swooping wide, he led inside the final furlong and ran on well to win by a length and three quarters.
Another step up in class may now be on the cards for Sevenna’s Knight, who holds an entry in the Group 2 Prix Kergorlay later this month. The progressive son of Camelot was bred by Gestut Ammerland, for whom he raced until recently. The half-brother to Group 3 heroine Savanne (Rock Of Gibraltar) is out of Group scorer Sevenna (Galileo), who has a two-year-old full-brother to the winner.
