Promising Camelot Colt Gains Deserved Maiden Win
Himalayan Heights (3c Camelot – Shambolique, by Shamardal) built on fine efforts in hot maidens to win Wednesday’s mile and half maiden at Tipperary.
Ger Lyons’ charge finished second behind a subsequent Listed winner last month and filled the same position behind the exciting Highbury (Galileo) next time out. Sent off second-favourite on Wednesday, he led from halfway under Colin Keane and drew clear with over three furlongs left to race. Ridden after the two furlong pole, he kept on well to win by a length and a half, with another six lengths back to the third.
Assistant trainer Shane Lyons later said Himalayan Heights will improve with time. The son of Camelot is owned by breeder Sheikh Abdulla Bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
