Saxon Warrior Colt Draws Clear On Second Start
Sax Appeal (3c Saxon Warrior - Isobel Archer, by Oasis Dream) proved a class above his rivals when drawing clear to win his second start at Southwell on Wednesday.
The Charlie Johnston-trained colt showed signs of inexperience on last month’s debut and was sent off favourite as he stepped up to a mile and three furlongs on Wednesday. Racing prominently under Franny Norton, he led before the four furlong pole and was asked to quicken two furlongs later. Ridden approaching the final furlong, he kept on well to score by five and a half lengths.
Owned by Johnston Racing Ltd, Sax Appeal was bred by C&s B/S Ltd, C Younghusband and K McGivern. He hails from the first crop of Saxon Warrior, who has made an impressive start at stud with three Group winners, led by Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Victoria Road (Saxon Warrior).
