Saxon Warrior Filly Wins Chantilly Maiden In Good Style
Happy Saxon (3f Saxon Warrior – Happyness, by Kodiac) shaped like a smart prospect when winning Saturday’s maiden for three-year-old fillies at Chantilly.
Fourth at Saint-Cloud on her sole juvenile start, the Mikel Delzangles-trained filly stepped up to ten furlongs on her seasonal return and was settled at the back of the field by Stephane Pasquiar. Improving into midfield approaching the turn for home, she was asked to challenge two furlongs out and produced a smart turn of foot to lead a furlong later. She was pushed out to beat the favourite Sailawaywithme, who holds Group 1 entry, by a length and three quarters, with the same margin back to the well-bred Jannah Pearl (Galileo) in third.
Happy Saxon is owned by Roy Racing and was bred by Haras de Bourgeauville.
