Sioux Nation Filly Rallies For Maiden Victory
All Things Nice (2f Sioux Nation - Similu, by Danehill Dancer) displayed a likeable attitude when battling back to win the mile fillies’ maiden at Bellewstown on Thursday.
The Joseph O’Brien-trained bay was well-supported on debut earlier this month, when finishing a close second over seven furlongs. Sent off favourite to go one better, she was ridden to lead by Mikey Sheehy, but was headed after the three furlong pole. Pushed along to regain the lead approaching the final furlong, she was ridden out to prevail by a head, with another three and a quarter lengths back to the third.
Speaking after the race, Sheehy said, “In fairness she put her ears back and she was really good and tough. You'd like to say there's plenty more improvement to come. She will get better up in trip.”
Joseph O’Brien has won all three runnings of the race, with his 2020 winner Pretty Gorgeous going on to triumph at Group 1 level. His latest heroine is owned by E & S Racing, and was bred by Lynch Bages, Edgeridge and Glenvale Stud.
All Things Nice continues a terrific start at stud by Sioux Nation, with Group 2 Balanchine Stakes third Matilda Picotte (Sioux Nation) also adding to their sire’s black-type at the weekend.
