Smart Camelot Colt To Step Up In Class
Puppet Master (2c Camelot – Realtra, by Dark Angel) built on a promising debut to easily justify favouritism in Saturday’s mile maiden at the Galway Festival.
Runner-up to the well-supported Apples And Bananas last month, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was partnered by Wayne Lordan on his second start and tracked the leader for much of the way. Ridden to lead approaching the final furlong, he soon drew clear to score by four lengths.
“Puppet Master is a lovely colt,” Lordan commented. “He had a lovely run at Killarney, running green but finishing out well. Today he was very professional.”
Ballydoyle representative Chris Armstrong added, “He can travel, quicken and will be a lovely middle-distance horse for next year. At the moment he will be in the mix for the Beresford (Stakes).”
The son of Camelot is owned by Coolmore partners and was bred by Barronstown Stud.
