Son Of Camelot Adds Concorde Stakes To Impressive CV
Current Option (4g Camelot - Coppertop, by Exceed And Excel) provided connections with another day to remember when capturing the Group 3 Coolmore U S Navy Flag Concorde Stakes at Tipperary.
Racing over seven and a half furlongs, the Adrian McGuinness-trained bay soon settled behind the leader and was pushed along from the two furlong marker. Ridden out, he drew clear of the field with Laughifuwant, the pair rallying to the line, where Current Option prevailed by a short head, while Soul Search (Zoffany) stayed on for third.
Speaking after the race, a delighted Adrian McGuinness said, “This is brilliant and is great for the lads; this horse keeps improving and we've had so much fun with him.”
Since being bought as a horse in training for 85,000gns, Current Option has won two Stakes races and another two valuable handicaps for Adrian McGuinness and owners Dooley Thoroughbreds, Shamrock Thoroughbreds and BT O’Brien.
Bred by Grangecon Holdings, the son of Camelot is the best produce out of Coppertop; herself closely related to Listed winner Canary Row (Holy Roman Emperor).
